Maria João Falcão is a Portuguese actress and theatre maker.
Lived and studied theatre in Madrid, Paris, New York and Lisboa.
Studied at ESTC (Lisboa), RESAD (Madrid), École Philippe Gaulier (Paris) and SITI Company (NY).
In 2019, finishes her Master's degree in Theatre Practices, at ArtEZ (Netherlands).
As an actress, she works in theatre, television and cinema.
Maria João Falcão performed in tv series for RTP, SIC, TVI and Amazon.
In theatre worked with several directors, such as Antonino Solmer, Amândio Pinheiro, Miguel Loureiro, Miguel Moreira, André Amálio, Carlos Pimenta, André Murraças, Nuno Cardoso, Maria João Luís, André Gago, Jorge Silva Melo, João Telmo, Rodrigo Francisco, Toni Cafiero, Hugo Franco and Natália Luiza. Worked with the theatre companies Artistas Unidos, Companhia de Teatro de Almada, Ao Cabo Teatro, Mala Voadora, Útero, Teatro da Terra, Nova Companhia and Teatro Meridional.
In cinema worked with the directors Joaquim Leitão, António Pedro Vasconcelos, João Pedro Rodrigues, João Nuno Pinto and Diogo Pessoa Andrade.
In 2019, Maria João Falcão starts the theatre platform 'número cinco' and creates her first theatre project, On Invitation. In 2021, creates O Mestre.
Currently based in Lisboa.
